Interesting the hate for linen but so much love for nylon and polyester!

I know! I think it’s because linen wrinkles and you can’t wear it for most of the year but the synthetic fibers are very durable

Yeah, I understand in a way, I just feel suspicious of her motives as a business, you know? She said one time that nylon feels fresh and modern while silk can make a garment feel dated. Okay, but nylon was invented precisely to imitate silk. Silk can be woven to look exactly like nylon, meaning stiff and crunchy if needed, doesn’t have to be all fluid and drapey. Natural fibers are amazingly versatile. But expensive for a business bottom line perspective. Maybe linen doesn’t fit into her aesthetic—it’s a very particular fabric, so I can see that. But I just don’t trust her judgement on fabrics in general when she continues to choose synthetics even when natural fibers would fit the aesthetic need of the design. Also, I happen to just love linen myself and will defend it forever 😁

Haha me too I think linen is my favorite fabric. I love the texture of it and the way it looks. Khadi cotton is up there too. And yeah she’s running a business and of course she’s going to make her choices seem like the best ones but I agree there’s no replacing the beauty of natural fibers. AND I really like some of the synthetics that Amy creates. Hopefully there’s room for all of it.

“This is exactly how you should look right now” is my new mantra! It’s giving myself grace to exist just the way I am right now, and feels like a huge sigh of relief.

Those winslows were made for you!! Re the acetate wrinkles- steaming works well- even just the shower hang

Okay I’m going to try this. I was afraid to steam it like will it melt?? Lol. But the bathroom hang is a good first step. Those creases seem very entrenched though…

I mean, sure, linen wrinkles, but who hates it? I would steam acetate, but ugh, it’s so gross as a textile. You can’t even get it wet!

I’m skeptical of the whole Tibi thing so I’m enjoying your exploration of the book, Sita.💕

I love this:

“Maybe I’m supposed to look exactly how I do right now and with this thought I can find the beauty in what I see.”

YES!

I’m skeptical about Tibi too but also feeling pulled to it in the way of “these are the clothes I want to wear every day”. I’m going to try hanging my skirt in the bathroom the next time I shower and see if that does it

i have acetate pants from attersee and i have the same question re: ironing. i'm afraid to even try!

also, bought the fforme pants on sale but sadly going to return. they look so much better on you. i struggle as well with aging and body issues. my shape has changed, and so much of what i'm seeing out there really does not work on curvier bodies (honestly, i am only a size 6/8, up from a size 4, so i cannot imagine how challenging it is for others!).

Ohh sorry the Fforme pants didn’t work for you! For some reason they fit my body shape well. I know what you mean about those subtle body changes. I’ve gained some weight recently and I know I’m still quite small and have no right to complain but it is hard to feel like our bodies are changing in a way we can’t control. But I figure we only have two choices - to accept it with grace or fight it with all kinds of interventions that will probably make us more miserable.

I love this piece and your thoughts on aging. I also am trying to reconcile what I see in the mirror.

Thank you! It definitely takes work to come to terms with an aging face, but when I realize I’m the only one actively criticizing it that helps a lot
